Each November SCENE gets together with other Christian Singles in London. This year it was suggested that we do a historic and famous landmarks walk in London as a change from visiting a museum or going to a show.
Meeting at 2pm at Old Street tube station (Northern Line) (EC1Y 1BE) we plan to have a leisurely walk with time for people to chat along the way with stops to hear some of the history.
Setting out at 2.15pm we first visit John Wesley’s Chapel and Bunhill Fields cemetery where John Bunyan, William Blake and Daniel Defoe are buried. During our walk we hope to see various famous landmarks such as the Bank of England and the Monument before we get to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
As we pass onto the on the south bank of the River Thames we would see City Hall (London Mayor’s Office), HMS Belfast, Southwark Cathedral, Clink Prison Museum, the Golden Hind replica and Shakespeare’s Globe to name a few of the sites. Where we manage to get to and the length of the walk will depend on numbers and how we do on the day. We intend to complete the walk next year.
We plan to stop for tea/ coffee at about 4.30pm before heading off to the Crypt at St Martin in the Fields by bus.
The Café in the Crypt, at St Martin-in the fields is the ideal spot for affordable dining in central London and to escape from the crowds.
Address: Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN.
A mobile contact will be given to those who have booked on.
